Mary Kane - Timepieces

Mary Kane
As a painter working primarily in oils and acrylics, my art expresses a deep love of nature. I stick pretty close to home for my visual references and subjects though I travel at least once or twice a year and may, during that period, try to capture something totally different or unique to that environment. Along with drawing and sketching, it's the actual process of painting where I find the real joy of art unfolds for me.
As a child I was inspired by Jon Gnagy, one of the early pioneers of art instruction on television. A favorite early gift was a box of Jon Gnagy drawing supplies. After graduating high school, I took up art studies and earned a BFA in Painting from the American University in Washington, DC and an MST in Art Education from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Though my life journey took me in a variety of directions, I still found expression through the years by constantly doodling, sketching and putting a brush to paper, canvas or board…Currently moving through time in beautiful West Virginia, I've exhibited works at the Berkeley Art Works Gallery in Martinsburg, WV. I am grateful to share my art with you on these pages and I hope you take away
a little joy from it!
